AUGUST 12, 2012 JUPITER OCCULTATION BY CRESCENT MOON IMAGES

Last August 12, a Jupiter occultation by the  crescent Moon was visible in the Philippines. An occultation refers to the passage of a celestial body across a line between an observer and another celestial object. This event was visible both  disappearance (ingress) and reappearance (egress) . James Kevin Ty together with ALPer Edgar Ang were at Edgar's place in Tondo to observe this event. Unfortunately, we were only able to observe Egress as we were clouded out during Ingress :(

Below are images taken by James Kevin Ty using Canon 500D DSLR on Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS L lens with EF 1.4x converter on Vixen GP-DX mount. Full report can be viewed at http://www.astrophotophils.blogspot.com/2012/08/august-12-2012-jupiter-moon-occultation.html .
